Author Marketing Conference coincides with Polar Vortex!! Could get dicey!!

Just FYI — the Polar Vortex is a thing!! It occurs somewhat reliably every year starting in mid-January and continuing into early February. Travel plans from the great plains and the midwest are easily disrupted. That’s one of the reasons I scheduled my flight to Austin for somewhat early the day before, my flight out for the day after, and scheduled nothing else the day after after—it’s good to have a buffer that can absorb flight delays or cancellations. If, by chance, your travel IS disrupted, and you are offered the opportunity to divert somewhere, I highly recommend Las Vegas. Why? Because even if your diverted flight arrives at 2 am, you can still get a shuttle from the airport to any hotel, which will be open 24/7 for securing lodging and getting something to eat. (I know this from personal experience!!) 🤪
