What to do with a few hours in Austin?

I’m flying in around noon on Thursday. Renting a car to get my bags to the hotel and then drive around and see the sights, returning the car before dinner with friends.

Anything I should see or do in Austin? I’m hoping to hear some music on Friday or Saturday night, too.
