AI and my future

This link was in Joanna Penn’s email this morning. Fascinating stuff with some good food for thought. His approach is basically “This is coming: you can embrace it and use it, or fall victim to it.”

It hits me at an inflection point: Ten days ago I was hit with a return to office mandate for my software career at Walmart — I won’t be moving to the Bay Area, so now have six months to figure out what is next. I’m not ready to retire, but I am ready to do something different. I very much want creating stories to be a big part of that as well as well as growing in my technical skills, but I’m not at all sure what that means.

Part of my process is attending conferences to dedicate time to switching gears (this was already in the works for me before I got hit with the RTO news). I will be at Novel Marketing Conference in January and am here in Vegas for Author Nation Live.

I “just happened” to come in early, so have almost an entire day in my hotel by myself (I don’t really like Las Vegas ;) ) to begin thinking of what it does mean.

Anyway, the video was a great spark for thinking about my future. For the record, I’m at what used to be “normal” retirement age, but have no intention of quitting…shifting gears: yes, quitting: no.
