An AI use question. Is this legit?

We had a group of friends over for a cookout on Memorial Day. One of the guys, a musician, told us about a concept for a Christmas story told from a minor character’s point of view that could become a Christmas cantata.

Then he told us he fed his idea into one of the AI platforms, and it wrote the story for him. After that, he asked the AI model to create a song based on one part of the story. It composed a song for him.

He’s very excited about this and wants to see if he can use AI to create a Cantata that our choir could perform at church this Christmas.

He sees nothing wrong with using AI to create a cantata because the original idea is his, and he will edit the final product. Some of us using AI at work wonder if the machine is creating too much of the finished art even if our friend edits the results himself.
