Ethical Conflict About Using AI?
I’ve been attending the AI Writing Summit hosted by Tom Morkes and I’m learning a lot. I’ve been hesitant to use AI mainly because of moral and ethical concerns. So far, there hasn’t been much conversation around ethics or the morality of AI in this conference.
At the same time, I see the benefits it could provide me to use it as a writing assistant for brainstorming and researching.
I also listened to @Thomas Umstattd Jr.’s recent NM podcast episode on AI, which helped shift my mindset.
That being said, I would appreciate hearing the thoughts in this community. I understand this can be a hot topic and people may have deeply personal opinions. I’m not asking to be controversial; I’m asking to gain more perspective so I can decide whether or not to use it and if I do, how much I would use it.
My biggest concern is the lawsuit that is happening where authors are claiming their works were used without their permission to train AI, and that by using it, I’m not respecting their copyrighted work.
What are your thoughts about using AI?
Do you feel conflicted at all about using it?
I look forward to having a conversation about this!
