John Grisham sues OpenAI

In the local news for central Virginia, reporters announced this morning that local novelist John Grisham has joined other authors in a lawsuit. He says ChatGPT violates his intellectual property rights because the creators used some of his books to train the AI. This has enabled others to imitate his style of writing without his knowledge, without his permission, and without recompencing him.

Part of me cheered as I drove to work this morning. Then I remembered a presentation on ProWrite. The teacher boasted about enabling authors to write like big name authors.

I'm curious to see where this lawsuit takes us.
