Life Themer Version 3
Turn Your Favorite Stories Into a Cohesive Author Brand
The Life Themer was the first “tool” I built that wasn’t AI Thomas. I built it on a lark. @James L. Rubart had never watched Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and was never able to do his “I’ll turn your favorite three movies into the theme of your life” technique for me. I watched him do it for years for authors in the Book Launch Blueprint and I was curious what kind of results I would get.
So I built this tool to find how the themes from my three films connected.
Also with the end of the Book Launch Blueprint, Jim wasn’t offering this service for anyone other than his personal coaching clients. So it made sense to make it available to everyone.
The initial version worked! I could see how my favorite films connected to my life theme. Then I went on to build another 70+ authors tools. And in doing that, I learned a lot about how to make these kinds of tools better.
I just revisited the Life Themer and I’m excited to announce version 3.
Major Improvements in v3:
More Accurate: The Life Themer can now handle more than three stories. In fact, it may work better the more stories you give it.
More Flexible: Works with books and shows in addition to films.
More Useful: It now gives you branding guidance based on your life theme.
What does the Life Themer Actually Do?
When you feed it your favorite stories, the Life Themer gives you:
A short “Story DNA” summary that explains what your favorite stories have in common
Three to seven core life themes with concrete examples from your list
The big questions your stories keep circling
Clear patterns in protagonists, relationships, worlds, conflicts, and tone
Brand positioning ideas that describe who you are and who your ideal reader is
A handful of tagline and phrase options you can test on your site and profiles
Practical next steps you can take this week in your writing and marketing
How to try it
If you are a Novel Marketing Patron at the Patron Toolbox level or higher, you already have access.
Make a list of the stories you return to again and again. Drop them into Life Themer. Let the tool show you the through line.
You may find that your “random” taste has been pointing to your true author brand the whole time.
