Should we tell readers about use of AI proofreading tools?

Recently, I let slip on social media that I use an AI proofreading tool (ProWritingAid). Within hours, I lost followers and had another author not-so-passively-aggressively call out me and other authors for using AI, even in the smallest capacity. Of course, the comments were flooded with support and how they don’t read books or authors if they know they’ve used the slightest bit of AI. I know this is mainly authors saying this, so the question is: should we inform readers? Does it matter? Should anyone “come out of the closet” so to speak and let others know about their AI usage?
