Using AI Audio For Your Editing Process
I’ve heard many authors say that reading their draft aloud helps them catch errors - spelling, grammar, clunky flow, awkward repetitions, etc.
One author I know even recommends recording the audiobook before locking the manuscript, since doing so forces you to hear every flaw before publication.
I’ve found I can fix clunky writing though performance and that my eyes glaze over errors, because I’ve been staring at the document too long.
However, an AI reader doesn’t and will read the book the way a neutral reader would.
I’ve been using ElevenLabs for my final edit by having it read my book back to me and listening to each version I write, and it has improved the book immensely.
Even if you’re not using AI for your audiobook, I recommend trying this. The audiobook I created through this process will not be the one I release, but it has improved the book.
