Elements of Style: wartime era

In high school, we had to memorize the rules of Elements of Style. So the rules have always been a part of my core knowledge.

Today I came across a pdf of Elements of Style and went through it again. https://daoyuan14.github.io/elos.pdf

I have the book, but this was an easy peruse to read the pdf. But this time, it struck me with the resonance of early 1900s writing. (I was not surprised to find it was written in 1918). Wartime era, ivy league men, journals from that time period are filled with these mistakes.

A lot of the misused words (Chapter 5) have gone out of use it seems or have morphed into the forbidden usage. Ie: Worthwhile (now one word and used for nouns or verbs).
