Y1M4

I’m finally done with Y1M4! I didn’t want to write this post until I got my short story done.

I’ve listened to writing podcasts and read craft books for years, but usually I just listen to the writing prompts and exercises, then move on to the next thing. This time, I actually did the majority of the exercises from the Writing Excuses episodes and “Write Your First Novel”. I learned so much working through the exercieses! Here are some of my takeaways from the month:

• I need to spend more time cultivating my settings and plots, instead of mostly focusing on character and relationship arcs.

• I haven’t forgotten how to come up with new ideas, apparently (which is a relief)

I don’t think “Action” is my genre

I’m excited to dig into Month 5!
