Best Indie Novel 2023, Washington State

It’s been quite a week for my novel, “Pinocchio’s Guide to the End of the World”! I just won this prize (and qualify for best overall author contest):

This contest is to connect indie authors with libraries and is run through the library system and judged by librarians. It’s free to enter and I encourage you to take advantage of it. Many people who read library books go on to purchase the book.

I have one other morsel of encouragement: So much of what we learn (in BLB and elsewhere) focuses on the importance of the first 30 days. Certainly it’s important for getting reviews. But if your book doesn’t catch fire in the first 30, the slow burn could still take you to success. It takes time for a critical mass of readers to read and start recommending your book. Don’t give up!
