Big Hurt, Bigger God: Finding Freedom Through Biblical Forgiveness—release and reward

Big Hurt, Bigger God, Finding Freedom Through Biblical Forgiveness was supposed to release months ago, but life took an unexpected turn. In God’s perfect timing, it releases today. In the meantime, it won the Golden Scroll 2026 Book of the Year! Big God indeed.

Growing up, some misconceptions about forgiveness caused me a lot of pain and confusion. I thought that if you forgave, you’d no longer hurt and the person who hurt you would soften and change. At least that’s how all the stories on forgiveness I read played out.

But that wasn’t my experience—or the experience of my counseling clients.

My experience caused me to pay closer attention to biblical stories and teachings on how God wants us to respond when people hurt us and others. What I learned was freeing.

I wrote Big Hurt, Bigger God for anyone who has ever struggled to understand what biblical forgiveness looks like when dealing with betrayal and lingering hurt. My prayer is that its biblical foundation and practical guidance will help readers experience the healing presence of our Divine Healer and discover that even in our biggest hurts, we have a bigger God.
