Does your Book have Dragons?
Hello! I’m working on a blog post series where I analyze the scientific plausibility of various dragons found in fantasy novels. If your book has dragons and you’d like to be mentioned, I’d love to hear a bit more about your dragons! Especially if you have some attempt at scientific rationalization for why your dragon can fly, breathe fire (or acid, poison, etc.), or perform some other extraordinary feat.
I will warn you, I have not yet heard an explanation for a dragon flying that is realistic, and I will be honest in my analysis. But, my favorite dragon book has the absolute worst explanation of all of them. So I won’t be mean about it, and it doesn’t mean your book is “not good”…even if your dragons really shouldn’t be able to get off the ground. I have much more ingenuitive (and plausible) explanations for breathing fire, spitting acid, etc. And if you don’t like what I write, just let me know and I’ll take it off.
In exchange, I’d love it if you link to the blog post in an email to your newsletter.
If your dragons don’t have any attempt at rationalization, that’s okay! Give me a sentence or two about what makes your dragons interesting / special, and I will likely still give the book a shout-out.
My first post will be about dragon flight, but I hope to look at breathing fire and other extraordinary abilities in a later post.
