How do you Replenish your Creative Juice?
Everyone talks about writing fast as if getting the words down were the issue. I can type plenty fast enough, but it's the story itself that seems to take me forever to build.
I'm 11,000 words into my first novel, and while I'm currently happy with what I've written (as far as story), it's been really slow going. I'd love to make a career of this, but I can't imagine cranking out a novel in a year or less! For context, after several rewrites of the opening scene, these 11,000 words have taken me from February until now. Yikes! But I'm also a SAHM of 2 kids. Please, tell me this gets easier? How do you make the story come faster? I have the main structure planned (midpoint, Climax, etc.) with lots of room to explore specifics. How do you refuel your brain when it feels dead? I feel like if I wrote scenes with less forethought, they'd be garbage!
