How Many Footnotes in Book for General, Christian Reader?
I have written a book for a general, Christian audience on praying Scripture. I occasionally use footnotes. Many popular-level Christian nonfiction books do this. I’have written the entire book. I am at chapter 8 and trying to decide how hard to work at finding good quotations for the remaining chapters, and how many to have. I’m a biblical scholar, and I like academic authors to have tons of footnotes. I don’t expect popular-level books to have many, if any. Any thoughts on how many is enough without being too many? I’m not trying to write an academic book, but at times, I find it useful to quote someone who says something well.
