Need fresh eyes on first attempt at back cover copy.

Would love some fresh eyes on back cover copy. I’ve been pounding my head on this one a little too long. Here it is:

*********

Free-spirited, opinionated, and sensitive, Eleanor Williams bursts into life with zest and energy. And runs headlong into a world that has very definite expectations of who she should be.

Coming of age in South Africa as it emerges from apartheid, Eleanor enthusiastically embraces serving the world’s newest democracy. But as a young diplomat representing Nelson Mandela’s government in Palestine just after the Oslo peace accords, Eleanor’s idealism is confronted with brutal reality: violence, loneliness and loss.

Traumatized by her experiences, she escapes to America to reinvent herself. Only to find herself in the grip of systems of power and authority that find her intelligence profitable, but her insistent humanity an obstacle to be removed.

Now she must answer the question that’s eluded her for so long: who is she to be in a world that doesn’t want who she is.

Raw, intimate and vivid, On the Road to Jericho is a contemporary odyssey resonating with themes of resilience and redemption, against the background of a violent and rapidly changing world.
