Steven James and the Pivot

I have recently listened to podcasts with Thomas and Joanna Penn where Steven James spoke about craft and especially “pivots.” I was intrigued enough that I purchased Delve, Pivot, Propel. I was sorely disappointed. The idea of pivots comprised only a very small part of the book, and if there is something significant in this idea, I sure didn’t feel it was communicated clearly. I came away thinking that almost all good authors intuitively do what he is proposing. Anyone else have thoughts on James’ idea of “pivot” or found it helpful?

Overall, the book was too repetitive as well, although it contained some gems for craft. advice, to be certain.
