Title Help!
So, I am torn between two potential titles for my upcoming memoir. The manuscript goes to the final copy edit soon and I need to nail down a title. Here are my two options 1) Forgotten Twin: Faith, trauma, and the things we can’t repair 2) Things We Can’t Repair: Faith, trauma, and a forgotten twin.
The book is about how we respond to the painful parts of life that defy easy answers - it’s the story of my separation from Seth, my identical twin brother, after a medical accident that left him blind, deaf, severely disabled, and a permanent resident of a specialized hospital. I did everything in my power to avoid seeing Seth for nearly a decade, until I learn time might be running out for us. The story weaves in psychology and Christian spirituality (I am a therapist and former pastor) while ruthlessly avoiding simple answers, overspiritualizing, and the type of theological platitudes that never actually suffice. The book explores questions about life, faith, trauma, the things we can’t repair, and the grace that sustains us along the way.
My target reader is an educated, theologically/socially moderate or liberal leaning adult Christian. Think about readers of Donal Miller, Glennon Doyle Melton, or Peter Enns.
So, that’s my book and my dilemma! Any help, insight, perspective, or reactions would be helpful! Thank you.
