What Surprised You About Writing a Book?

I’m in the editing stage of my book right now, and it’s got me thinking about how different the actual writing process can be from what you imagine going in.

For those of you who have written and published a book, what surprised you most about the experience? Was something easier or harder than you expected? Are there things you wish someone had told you beforehand?
