Would you choose an employee as a Timothy?
TLDR: The management structure at my company is rather fluid. One of the valets who usually doesn’t, but potentially could, report to me, found a copy of my book (biblical fiction short story anthology) and has been gushing about it.
Longer version:
I am a manager for a valet company.
Employees are required to work at both contracted sites (mall, hospitals,…) and special events (restaurants, house parties, country club,…). I am special events manager. In March when we have huge a city-wide festival, and between Thanksgiving and Christmas, I’m texting people reminding them of their obligation to work for me and assigning them to weekend shifts.
One of the valets asked me for a copy of my book, so I dropped it off at the hospital (maybe relevant — my daughter is site manager at that hospital). He left it in the podium and one of the other valets picked it up and read it. He was asking my daughter about it and requesting stories of specific characters.
I certainly will chat with him, but I’m not sure about the employee/employer aspect of tagging him as “Timothy”, counting on him for full, honest feedback, especially considering my daughter is his usual manager.
And on a similar note — I kind of pictured my target audience as moms with tweens. But everyone who has come back to me telling me how much they love the stories are men. Absolutely, 100% a surprise.
