A rising genre among young men?
I’d love to hear your thoughts on the supernatural dystopian genre (yes, that is an actual genre lol). The current novel I’m working on falls into this category and so I’m trying to gauge the market.
I know there’s been a cultural shift, where more people—especially young men—are interested in the spiritual realm. You also have a rising amount of distrust in the government. A lot of the podcasts that are popular among young men also focus on the supernatural/spiritual, government corruption, and conspiracy theories.
However, I’ve found very few recent supernatural dystopian novels. And the ones I do find, tend to be geared toward women, not men. Most of the notable and successful novels in this genre are from over ten years ago. You’ve got the Left Behind series, Frank Peretti’s books, Ted Dekker’s books, Anomaly by Krista McGee, and the Out of Time series by Nadine Brandes.
So, I’d love to hear your thoughts on this market. Is supernatural dystopian novels geared toward young men, perhaps, an overlooked goldmine?
