AI Bots writing ME emails using ALL MY OWN WORDS

I know that AI is useful for research, and you’re all using it for other things as well.

Last night I received an email about two of the books I wrote—both about Oswald and Biddy Chambers. It was a sales pitch asking me if I wanted their help in increasing sales of the two books.

We’re all getting emails like that these days, and I automatically delete.

This email, however, was different.

Almost every single word was taken off my website, my blog posts, or the back cover copy of the book.

Anyone else getting emails like this? An AI bot crawled my website for six weeks earlier this year—quadrupling my daily “hits” and generating a request from my website about my needing to buy another tier of something.

Or, basically, to pay for the honor of having a bot crawl my website.

Does anyone but me have a problem with this? And other than the fact that I recognized my own words, how can we protect ourselves from intrusions like this?

I’m probably just venting—but be warned.
