ISNI (International Standard Name Identifier) is the ISO certified global standard number for identifying persons and groups that are involved in creative activities, such as authors and publishers, researchers, inventors, artists, visual creators, performers, and producers.

ISNI

Each ISNI is a unique, permanent digital identity that distinguishes you or your organization from others with similar names — helping ensure your creative works are correctly linked and credited across the global information network.

How ISNI sets you apart from the rest

● Unique, Unambiguous Identity. Each ISNI distinctly identifies a public identity, consolidating name variations and ensuring consistent attribution across works.
● Enhanced Discovery & Metadata Integrity. ISNIs improve metadata quality by linking contributors to all associated works, reducing duplication and enabling more accurate search, cataloging, and recommendations.
● Improved Rights, Royalties & Reporting. By aligning contributor data, ISNIs support accurate attribution, streamline reporting, and reduce the need for manual reconciliation.
● Cross-Sector Connectivity. ISNIs serve as a universal identifier across industries —including publishing, libraries, music, film, research, and rights organizations — linking creators to their work wherever it appears.
