Author Domain Security Question

This question might have an obvious answer, but I’m clearly an un-obvious person, because the answer is not obvious to me, lol.

I’m about to purchase my author domain name through Namecheap, and they offer free domain privacy protection, but I’m going to host my site on Bluehost which also offers security, so now I’m confused, lol. Do you get domain privacy protection through where you purchase your domain name or through where you host your site? Or do you do both?
