Author headshot input

First off… I am well aware these are not professional quality pictures. We squeezed in a few headshots when my mom was doing my engagement photos yesterday, and the lighting was far from ideal. But I would appreciate any suggestions on posing, outfits, not looking scared of the camera, and the like!

A few notes:

• My current author headshot is my high school graduation photo from 4 years ago. It very much needs to be updated, but I had very bad acne starting the summer after my graduation. It’s finally starting to clear up… but I’m still self-conscious about it in professional/formal pictures. So any reassurance on that front would be much appreciated.

• I feel like my outfit (which had been chosen for engagement photos) is not well suited to my genre (YA fantasy with strong romantic subplots). Any thoughts on that?

• Suggestions as far as posing, background (we have professional photography backdrops), and again, not looking scared of having my picture taken, would be much appreciated!
