Book Reviews are like Pulling Teeth!

I am finding it painfully difficult to get reviews on my book - Surfing in Heaven …

Any suggestions for minimizing the pain?!

And what about these marketers (examples below)?
Do I need to pay an oral surgeon for reviews?

I am told that book reviews can help our books gain visibility in the ocean of newly published books (3,000 per day, as I remember Thomas telling us in BLB ):

  • Books with at least 50 reviews on Amazon see a significant increase in visibility due to Amazon’s algorithm favoring frequently reviewed books.

  • Every additional Amazon review increases sales by 4.6% on average. (Northwestern University, 2021).

  • Books with over 100 reviews can see up to a 200% increase in sales compared to books with fewer than 10 reviews. (K-lytics, 2022)

  • Amazon shows books in “Customers Also Bought” sections more frequently once they hit 25+ reviews.

I have listened to Thomas’ How to Get More Book Reviews and have tried most of them — I now have “12” reviews (4 months from launch with ~200 book sales)… I even offered a reward from my KS leftovers (I know — not allowed…).

Here are some of the book marketers (book publicity services) who have approached me. Has anyone used one of them? I am getting tempted.

Any thoughts are welcome!
