Copyright workarounds

In my novel, certain song lyrics and songs are referenced, and of course, I wanted to include them. There’s a very important scene where the two main characters are discussing Sunday in the Park with George, and I wanted to include the lyrics where George is singing dot, dot, dot, dot etc. My wonderful editor said that to get permission would be problematic and likely very expensive. I want to embed a link to youtube with a start time and end time.

I found how to encode the start and endtime. It looks something like this:

youtube.com/embed/MdysnXgWO8o?si=e7gYFfLqSDbvyfIO&start=147&end=226

I deleted the beginning so it didn’t create a link. Anyhow, every time that I try to open it, it starts correctly, but the &end=226 gets removed, leaving the video to play hours.

Is this a browser issue on my end, or does it behave similarly with you?

I generally use Linux and Firefox, but I have a windows box I use from time to time, and it does the same thing using Brave on Windows. It’s been driving me crazy, as I have about nine clips that I need to do that with.

Any help would be appreciated greatly.
