Creative uses of damaged books?
My last KDP order for author copies showed up mostly damaged. I contacted support and got them replaced but now I have 10 copies of slightly damaged books (plus another 10 with misprinted fonts) that I want to do something with.
I don’t run book tables yet, otherwise I could sell them there at a discount. And I haven’t had much luck selling them online because $5 is a bargain in person, but less so when people have to pay another $5 for shipping.
Currently, I’m considering tucking some of the copies inside the ‘tiny library’ boxes that I see around. I’ve also considered donating copies to thrift stores or such, but that seems like it might devalue the book. Though, at the same time, they might end up in hands that otherwise would never see them?
And Thomas posted the video of ‘how many books can this gun shoot through’ deal. I could do that, but along the lines of ‘how much protection would a book give you from a sword…?’ 🤔
Thoughts? What creative ways have you seen/dealt with damaged print copies of your books?
