Do we have a leak?

Like most of you, I get regular scam emails. But I got one last night that caught my curiosity (not because I’ll be signing up with them) because the first paragraph referenced two questions I had posted here, on AuthorMedia, in the last few days. I’ve only posted those questions here, so I was a little surprised that the email referenced those.

I assumed AuthorMedia was a private forum, but maybe I’m wrong? Are scammers able to see our posts?

Here are the first paragraphs in case there are any clues there. I underlined my two recent questions on AuthorMedia:

Hi Kathy,

I came across your recent discussion on beta-reader engagement and the workflow issues your assistant faced while uploading newsletters to Kit. Your technical awareness around segmentation, browser troubleshooting, and engagement validation caught my attention.

I’m a technical book marketer specializing in optimizing reader acquisition pipelines and automating audience feedback loops for authors. I’ve helped several independent writers integrate behavioral data tracking into their outreach (including Kit, Substack, and ConvertKit), ensuring clean deliverability and verifiable engagement metrics for future book launches.

Thoughts?
