Does it make sense to order my own book on Amazon?

I have a dilemma about ordering my “author’s copies” of my book for friends and Kickstarter backers. I have about 50 to send out. Can anybody verify this?

If I order an author’s copy directly from my KDP account, the charge is $8.59 per book — paperback = $4.28 + $3.59 shipping + $.72 tax. Delivery is in “3-4 weeks”!
And no free shipping on author copies with Prime (I did not know that!). And, NO CREDIT FOR A BOOK SALE.

If I order a paperback copy from my Amazon account with Prime, the charge is $12.63 per book — paperback = $11.99 + $.72 tax. Free shipping, and it delivers on Thursday of this week! And, CREDIT FOR A BOOK SALE (I think).

MY DILEMMA — it appears (to me) to make sense to pay ~$4 per book to order it directly from Amazon…

Agree?
