Domain Registrar

I am purchasing a domain name for possible future use. In an Author Media podcast from 2013, Thomas recommends Namecheap.com. Since that was 11 years ago, I searched recent recommendations and found a 2024 recommendation for porkbun.com. The author of the article said he previously used Namecheap, but he gets less expensive annual rates and better service from Porkbun.

The domain I want is $14.05 the first year with Namecheap, and then $19.11 a year after that + $0.25 ICANN fee, with free domain privacy. With Porkbun it is $9.37 the first year and then $10.37 a year with Free WHOIS Privacy, Free SSL certificate, Free Email forwarding, and Free URL forwarding. Namecheap may have the free email and URL forwarding, too, but it wasn’t mentioned on the page with the estimated costs.

Just wondering if anyone has used Porkbun.com for a domain or if you have any other suggestion other than Namecheap.

Thanks,

Angela
