Is Social Worth it if Its Automated
I generally stay away from social media. I have a Facebook account that I use like a phonebook for old friends and a linked in account I check once a month. I generally think social is terrible for marketing - it’s shouting into the void and it’s a time suck.
Lately I have been wondering two things:
Has anyone used AI to automate a good social campaign for a book and
Has the automation show any return on investment and
Has that return on investment been worth the time.
I suspect even with a good tool (Claude code or Grok Bot) you will need to check on and manage the tool. So, has anyone done this and found it to be worth while? Here is the key - worth while doesn’t mean “likes” it means purchases or growing your list or some other quantifiable return.
Finally, here’s a little about me:
First book is out and published- came out this July. After initially selling 120 copies, its sold 15 to 18 for the last three months without any real promotion.
I am working on my second book - 65K words into the manuscript as we speak.
I have some podcast interviews coming up and working on a substack and reader magnet.
I would love to hear your thoughts and any personal expereinces.
Thanks,
Matt
