Kickstarter--and then what?

I’m researching Kickstarter (after listening to every episode I could find on Novel Marketing), and look forward to publishing my first non-work-for-hire children’s picture book.

At the same, I’m trying to determine whether it’s best to work with a small independent publisher (i.e. My Word Publishing mentioned in this week’s episode) or work with different people to manage cover design, editing, typesetting, etc.

Any thoughts from those with experience? I appreciate your feedback. 😃
