Looking for Advice on the Five Year Plan

I have completed the first quarter of the five year plan.

Recently, I have become interested in screenwriting. I have always enjoyed watching movies, as I’m sure many of you do as well. I’ve never written a screenplay, and have read few scripts.

My question: would it be beneficial for me to take a temporary break from writing short stories and Writing Excuses exercises to write a screenplay, or should I stick with The Five Year Plan? Is this my mind looking for a way out of the writing I’m doing now?
