Mac question-CleanMyMac

I have both a Mac and MacBook Air. I’ve used CleanMyMac for a few years thinking I was keeping my computers healthy and safe from malware. But I recently saw a Reddit (and we all know the experts reside there) discussion about what junk that CleanMyMac is.

I trust you more than Reddit, so wondering if any of you have experience or advice regarding CleanMyMac? I’m especially concerned about malware (I know the protocols for keeping my computers safe but I guess I’m trying to be super-vigilant.)
