Narrating Your Own Book

I agree with Mike and others who’ve shared how reading the book aloud reveals needed edits! And there’s something about reading it as though you’re reading it TO someone else that takes the process a bit deeper too.

After reading through ours we will definitely make this a part of the editing process before going live from now on - it’s moved from “that would be a good thing to do” to “officially one layer of the editing process”!

Here’s our question of the day: Do you guys record the book exactly as it’s written or do. you fix the slight mistakes when you do the narration?

If you are team “correct things”, do you have guidelines for what’s off-limits? What barometer do you use to gauge whether an edit is something that’s ok to take license on and which are things that “shall remain”?

Obviously, I wouldn’t go re-writing the dialogue or the content any, but minor things that even he agrees sound better slightly adjusted would certainly flow better.

Any known taboos or rules with doing that, unspoken or otherwise?
