New Guy

Good morning! I woke up at 3:30 AM with a headache. After taking some Ibuprofen and drinking coffee, I started my morning news and book research routine. I have found that holding a full-time job and writing is HARD! And then, I found a blog post on authormedia.com and thought the advice was sound. This led me here.

My reading interests vary. I love science fiction, alt-history, fantasy, westerns, psychological thrillers, and spy novels. I have two projects currently. The first is about 10,000 words and is a story about a spy caught in Europe as the biblical tribulation begins. The US has collapsed, so he has to sell his services to the highest bidder to return to his family. It’s heavily influenced by a favorite author in the spy novel genre, Daniel Silva. The second is a science fiction/western mashup about a family of cattle ranchers on a distant planet. While there is technology, they use horses to work the ranch. I’ve got about 4,000 words in on that one. It’s very Louis L’Amour.

As far as my day job goes, I’m a military officer who will soon be retiring, and this is my retirement transition plan.
