Pen Name Crisis
When I sat down and decided I'm going to write to publish, I binged most of Novel Marketing. Hearing about the evils of a pen name, especially in the AI- driven world, I set up my website, paid email address, and email newsletter (on Kit) using my legit full name: Kelsey Janae Weber. Kelseyweber.com was taken, as was kjweber.com (Another author, of all things!) Kelsey Janae Weber is ranking great on Google, and was available on all the platforms I cared about, but it's an awful mouthful! Janae often gets cut to Jane (no offense taken, it's easier to say, lol.) I haven't published anywhere besides my blog and an obscure e-zine so far, but I'm wondering whether I should consider changing it while it's still at least this easy, though the process looks incredibly daunting. I already have 200 subscribers and SEO ranking I don't want to lose. Am I over thinking this? How awful is Kelsey Janae Weber? I see almost no other authors using three full names, each with two syllables at that! (At least the emphasis is different in Janae!) It makes me feel like a bit of a hoity toity imposter with people I know, to direct them to my three-name website. Then again, a fake name would be worse, and I have no idea what my better options are! Please, please give me your honest feedback!!! How awful is my name?! Thanks a million!
