Questions About Front/Back Matter
Hello everyone! I have a couple of questions based on the Novel Marketing podcast I just watched regarding front/back matter. Excellent pod, by the way! Please chime in, especially if you’re an experienced fiction author. My books have all been nonfiction and this is my first time writing fiction for publication. If @AI Thomas could weigh in, that would be nice as well.
So here’s the thing. I am, God willing. releasing Books 1 & 2 of my cozy mystery series next spring, and will hopefully have books 3 & 4 mostly done by then. I’m shifting some of the front/back matter around, per Thomas’ advice on this morning’s podcast. I have a couple of things that may be less common than in other books, and wanted to ask about those.
The #1 thing I want to ask about is putting a QR code on the very last page of the book for readers who are interested in learning more about becoming a Christian. The plan right now is for the QR code to go to my church. It would go to a landing page on their website, and then the church would email them some materials on what it means to be a Christian, how to become a Christian, and how to find a Bible based church in their area.
My question is, could Amazon consider this “offensive content?” I make it very clear in my blurb that this book contains Christian themes and assumes a Christian worldview. I’m not tricking anyone into reading a book where people go to church and pray on the regular. It’s almost a trigger warning for people who are adamantly opposed to reading anything “Christian.”
Would it be better if the QR code went to a landing page on my website where they could then opt in to click on a button that takes them to the church? The church would obviously have to collect some information such as first name and email address to send them the information they are requesting.
Question #2: I am writing culinary cozies. There will be 10 recipes in the back of each book. I ran two polls on Reddit and both times, the overwhelming majority of self-identified readers of culinary cozies said they want all the recipes together in the back, rather than at the end of chapters. Where in the back matter should it go?
For the audiobook: no one wants to follow a recipe by hearing it at the end of an audiobook. They want printed copies. Is this something I could include with the audiobook?
Question #3: Trying to put as little in the front matter as possible, as per Thomas’ recommendation. Is this a good order? If not, how would you change it?

This is for the print versions. Ebook, which I plan to put in KU, would be a little different.
