Tech Help on authormedia.social

Hi all

Can someone help me with an aspect of this site? Or point me to the right place? I don’t understand what the “Authentication” section, specifically the email and password, are used for. It’s under Profile → Edit → Authentication. It doesn’t seem to affect anything when I change it, and I can’t figure out if it’s relevant!

I’ve been cleaning up my email accounts and passwords, and have stalled out on engaging here because of my confusion over this. Thanks so much!
