Washington Post ends book reviews?

Cultural/zeitgeist convo: looking forward to seeing if this story will be a headline on Author Update- but I’ve seen some book people upset about the closing of the Washington Posts’s Book Review section. (I haven’t had a WaPo subscription in like 15years) I heard the paper has been loosing money since Jeff Bezos bought it and they’re making cuts across the board. As a curious observer I was wondering if their book reviews used to be influential? (I don’t follow modern literary critics only ones passed on ! lol!) Does this fit in the general trend of publishers cutting “waste”? Or an overall lack of interest in book reviews? (Which is unfortunate)
