Weird subscriber attempts

Over the last three days, something has bombarded my subscriber list with 39 attempts to sign up with random emails and password-type names. Three of them apparently went through, because I had to unsubscribe two and a third complained about my emails before I caught this. Has anyone else had this issue? Any suggestions on how to prevent it?
