What the British actually say!

We don’t say ‘tempest in a teacup’, although I like the alliteration. We talk about a ‘storm in a teacup’. I’ve heard Thomas say this a few times now recently and I end up wanting to say something but I miss my chance. So, any fellow brits? Back me up, here. Storm in a tea cup, right?

While we’re hear, I love the Americanism ‘y’all’ for you (plural). Technically ‘you’ is already plural and ‘thee/thou’ is singular, but that fell into disuse and ‘you’ became singular and plural. So can we make ‘y’all’ a British thing?

Last thing. Why do Americans say ‘I could care less’? We say ‘I couldn’t care less’ is UK, which is a hyperbolic way of saying how little a care about something. In fact, I could not care less about it. The American way is odd to me. Am I missing something? Or do Americans not really say it?
