Working with a Timothy

When I first learned about the concept of picking a Timothy, I chose one rather quickly (she’s still pretty close to my target audience, but not quite perfect), and recently switched to my best friend instead. She perfectly fits the kind of reader I want to reach, and is willing to make time for all my questions, so it’s been way better having her as my Timothy!

But I keep wondering whether she actually likes something in my writing or says she does because of our friendship. We’re close enough that we’re generally blunt with each other, so I’m not sure if this is an insecurity on my part (that I’m not a good writer, etc.).

So I’m curious if anyone else has used a close friend/family member as a Timothy. If so, how did it go? Are there any tips you are willing to share?
