#11 My Many Marketing Ideas to Share with you and to Receive your Critique On
How do you plan to use urgency to make your book more valuable?
I want to hold a month-long launch party and have several live events. During this month-long launch party I will offer a limited edition colored chore chart that is customizable for your child’s name as a pdf. This goes hand in hand with the book.
I will energize a nice size launch team to get their friends and neighbors to purchase the book during the month-long event and then report back to me how it is going.
I can post updates on Zoom for the launch team to see and create an atmosphere of friendly competition.
Not sure if I want to include a prize or just keep the motivation going organically.
How do you plan to use scarcity to make your book more valuable?
This is where I will only offer the exclusive version of the Morning Dash chore colored chore chart that is customizable for a child’s name as a pdf that goes hand in hand with the book.
I thought about doing a free pdf coloring book but coloring pages are my lead magnet and I want something different.
I will have the chore chart displayed as a poster for the in person launch party and give a coupon code to those who attend and purchase the book. I will also provide a sign up sheet at the event for those who choose to be on an email list.
I am contemplating having bookmarks with my website to give away at the launch as well. I will also provide signed copies for these in person purchases.
This will create motivation to attend one of the four live events.
For my online launch party I will provide a link for the chart for those who provide me with a copy of the receipt via email and I am toying with the idea of having an optional survey regarding who is purchasing the book and who the book is for.
How do you plan to make your book more ubiquitous so that it is more available?
I think that I would like to go wide and have several places where customers can purchase my book. There are several options I would like to consider besides Amazon and my website. If possible I would like to get my book into B&N and other stores if possible.
I will have an ebook and a hardback for sure but am still on the fence for the audiobook.
It is only 36 pages total including the title page, copyright page, etc…
It is also very colorful and the illustrations add so much to the book. I am not sure what Thomas would recommend regarding spending the time and money to create an audible on a book that is supposed to be read aloud to the child. The entire concept is to get both the parent and child engaged together to make a positive change in organizing their morning routine.
I want to engage parents and giving them an audiobook to hand to their child kind of defeats the purpose.
Any advice would be appreciated.
How do you plan to use social proof to make your book more popular?
I am hoping to go to some conferences and get to know other authors. I am seeking any recommendations who would possibly write an endorsement or even a forward. If you know of any children’s authors, I would love to be introduced to them.
I am not sure how to apply and receive awards so any information on this would also be appreciated.
I am a therapist and the book is within my scope of practice so adding a blog or newsletter would be advantageous to my work. My concern of course is having time to truly dedicate to such an endeavor. Blog - so many advantages. Newsletter - less work - but is it really less work? Both - just thinking about doing both overwhelms me.
How do you plan to use anchoring to make your book look like a bargain?
I am toying with the idea of having a campaign during mental health awareness month (which is in May so many months after my launch) and offering my book for 20% off if a reader signs up for a counseling session. I would create something about how hard it is to take the first step and sign up for therapy. I may even give the discount for clients to sign up for any therapist to encourage people to reach out for help.
Thoughts?
How do you plan to show authority?
Credibility - This is where I would use my profession as a therapist and provide parenting tips in either my blog or newsletter.
Power - I am not just a therapist, I am one of you. I was thrown back into parenting as a grandmother of 7 kiddos due to the tragic leukemia diagnosis of my son in law.
Trust - Consistency with good solid information. I have several sequels in the wings waiting to be finalized and this would build my trust and my voice.
Reciprocity - I want my books, website, blog and/or newsletter to offer gifts of good information that people can relate to and be able to use right away. I also am thinking about reviewing and recommending parenting books and then using my affiliate link.
I also have reader magnets that I will be using to build my email list of followers.
For faithful email subscribers I would put a discount code for my first book and market it as buy a gift for a family in need - this would be done prior to my launch of book two.
