Homework: Day 1
The Two-Cent Piece is seven-year-old, Anne’s story when she gets some of the first coins with the words “In God We Trust” and gives them away to her brothers and another boy who are all going off to fight in the American Civil War. What happens to those coins and the boys is the rest of the story.
1. Parents and grandparents can have the salvation conversation with the next generation.
2. Children will see the characters as role models – children of faith, who trust God.
3. Children reading the book aloud with parents or grandparents will hear Scripture quoted, so they can learn Bible verses.
4. If a young reader’s faith is wavering, the book will reaffirm and reinforce their faith in God, and give them hope.
5. The characters’ faith deepens as the story unfolds.
My book fits into the escape category. The back matter, about coin collecting, fits into education.
Value Statement/Tag Line: My stories allow parents and children to experience how something as simple as a coin can bring about faith and trust in God.
