HW #5, Tribes

Not entirely sure how much of the homework we were supposed to post here. Waiting on email responses back, for instance.

Here’s what’s down so far.
Favorite Movies: (Not great at choosing favorites, I usually have none, or can’t decide.)

Braveheart

The Three Amigos

The Princess Bride

Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade

Secondhand Lions

Big Fish

Themes: Facing powerful enemies with courage. Secondary theme: Restored relationships, especially with father-figures in the last three

Subject I’m thinking about engaging my audience with:
○  The idea of being Obi-Wan sparked an idea for the parents of my ideal reader. I was thinking of writing a post called, “Be Gandalf. Be Aragorn,” about how younger kids look up to their fathers. He’s got the mystery and wisdom (and maybe the wrinkles) of Gandalf, and he should take on that role of guiding their child into the mysteries of the world. Meanwhile, Dad is also the protector, like Gandalf, who can walk them through dangerous terrain and teach them how to handle themselves with courage. The kids are obviously the hobbits, who are going to have to face danger at some point.

Who am I following who is engaging their audience well?

I’ve been following a couple of members here who I think are doing well. I’ve been very impressed with the Kickstarter launch and follow up of Amanda Trumpower.

Sorry for not getting much homework review done over the weekend.
