Day #2 - Homework For Jim’s Talk - Sue Shigemitsu
What is the promise you are making your readers?
● That I will be honest in what I believe and share the truth. That I love God and will share that love through my writing.
What comes to mind when people think of you?
● Listener, insightful, kind, generous, gentle, and unique.
What is the empathy you have for your readers?
● That if they allow it, they will find the joy and healing when they discover that they are loved and valued for who they are – especially by God.
What is the authority you have for your readers? What gives you the authority to write on the subject you’re writing on?
● I have experienced rejection, abandonment, loneliness, and self-loathing, but when I rediscovered how much God loves me, I also discovered that He loves others too – even the ones who they are abandoned and unloved.
What gives you the authority to explore the themes in your writing?
● I believe it is my calling to let other (those who are unloved, abandoned, and lonely) that they in fact are loved, not abandoned or forgotten by God and He can change their lives as He changed mine.
Find a website that makes it about them, and brainstorm how you would change that website to make it about the website visitor. What are two things you would change?
● Final Fantasy Portal Site: https://na.finalfantasy.com/news/2530
● Descriptions of product in tighter paragraphs, less white space with more visuals or visuals enlarged with more interactive effects (maps, trailers, etc.).
Who is your target reader? Describe them in one sentence:
● Dreamers who seek adventure and a place of welcome.
To stand out, we must shock/surprise/delight Broca on a regular basis. How have you, or how are you going to, shock/surprise/delight Broca during the next three days?
● Use Japanese words or phrases, or humorous quotes that are appropriate in circumstances or describes an idea.
You know your brand has to be organic. What is different, unique, quirky, surprising about you that can/does define you as a person? How are you organically compelling?
● Using rephrased quotes or proverbs I have picked up from reading books or interacting in another culture. React with quirky humour that brings laughter or a smile to the audience.
In what areas do you need to give yourself permission to be you?
● I don’t have to impress others. God knows who I am and wants me to be myself, so I will be myself as He is my audience as well.
In what two areas are you going to focus on where you’ll make your content surprising/entertaining/provocative/engaging?
● Humour and creativity.
