Day 3 Homework

What feature did you find that most delighted you?

After reading Josiah’s post, I dug into my keyboard settings and turned off some stickers / gif suggestions. I also found the button to turn off automatic capitalization for beginning of sentences. I left it on, but if I wanted to fit in with my Gen Z little sisters, now I can, lol

What is your biggest technical fear?

My biggest fear is not being able to change systems / themes / etc. This manifests in not wanting to set up too complicated webpages (because what if I want to switch to a different theme builder and have to start over? Not that I can’t, but it would take time), but it also manifests in not wanting to hire someone to help build my website, because if I didn’t build it, will I know how to change it?

Which method or methods do you plan to use to manage it?

Uncertain. I don’t intend to hire someone just yet, so it’s not an immediate concern. I think Focus on the Power will help, though. Having a better website is worth the hassle of figuring out how to change it.

What about technology are you grateful for?

  • Having an avenue to get the word out about my books online.

  • It’s awesome to be able to have a hub for my brand. A place where I can tell readers anything I want, a place for them to learn more about me and get behind the scenes access to stuff. Whenever I get obsessed about a book, I try to find the website for it, so having a place for my future readers to come is a great opportunity.

  • I get to know people who don’t live close to me, and do things like this course.

  • All the other conveniences…electricity, antibiotics, owning more than one set of clothes, etc.

Which backup solutions do you use?

Automatic backups to OneDrive (there’s a free plan with up to a certain number of gigabytes, and it’s more than enough for me)
